How do I connect my LIFX lights to Amazon Alexa?

LIFX lights can be connected to Amazon Alexa allowing you to use Alexa voice commands or touch displays to control your lights.

Follow these step in your Amazon Alexa app to get connected.

  • Click the + icon.

  • Click Light from the device list.

  • Find LIFX in the list and click.
  • Follow the checklist prompts and action as needed.
  • Connect your LIFX account to Alexa.
  • Sign in to your LIFX account (using the email and password you use for the LIFX app) and press Authorise.

  • Once your LIFX account is linked press Next.

  • Alexa will show you the LIFX Skill you have now enabled.
Press on the Devices button to see you LIFX Lights.
  • You can now see and control your LIFX Lights with Alexa.
    Click on the light button.

You can change the color and brightness and even apply some FX if supported via the lights firmware (e.g. Flame and Morph on Ceiling Lights).

Now you have your LIFX account connected to Alexa, you can also use voice commands. Here are some examples to try:

"Alexa, change the lights to blue"
"Alexa, set the lights to warm white"
"Alexa, set lights to 20%"
"Alexa, set lights to orange"
"Alexa,Β make lights warmer"

Alexa will also link any LIFX Scenes you have created in the LIFX App. These are listed at the bottom of the Devices Screen. This means you can trigger your LIFX Scenes via voice commands too. For example:Β

"Alexa, turn on movie night scene"

This will trigger your Movie Night scene you created for the perfect night in.
